Why Now?

In 2022, the state of Florida expanded its Empowerment Scholarship program to every student in the state regardless of income or ability. Every student now has the choice to direct state funds to the school of their choice, making private education accessible to 95% of all children resident in Florida, and private schools much more financially viable.

For many Hindu parents, providing their children with an education in their religion, culture, language, and art forms means committing extra time after work or on weekends, when children are often tired and unmotivated after a long day of school and extracurricular activities. This makes it challenging for both parents and kids to fully engage with the cultural aspects of their identity. Gurukul Academy will now be able to bring the same convenience to the Hindu community that other faith-based schools offer, by integrating these essential teachings into the daily school experience, allowing children to learn about their heritage in a more balanced and accessible way. 

With all of this knowledge in hand, the founders of Gurukul Academy moved forward into a process that will offer a full-time, immersive educational experience that blends the best of modern education with the teachings and values of Hinduism.
